The landscapes John Glover painted are still very much intact and provide visitors with a timeless experience where they can walk in his footsteps. Glover Country is a significant cultural site and visitor destination that many artists, art historians and general art lovers visit to pay their respects. Whilst the homestead at Patterdale is undergoing restoration, the surrounding landscapes remain remarkably familiar to that depicted in Glover’s paintings. Visitors can more or less retrace Glover’s footsteps through fields and paddocks, and gaze upon the mountainous range that Glover once did.

The tour can be tailored to individual or group requirements and includes a visit to Glover’s House (currently in the process of restoration) and walks to some of the nearby sites, evident in his well-known sketches and paintings. Visitors receive a map, showing the different site locations and light refreshments will be provided at Nile Farm.

Until the restoration of Glover’s House is complete, accommodation can be provided next door at Nile Farm. Robert Pitcairn’s property was originally built in 1826; before John and Sarah Glover arrived in Van Diemen’s Land. The Glover family were regular visitors to Pitcairn’s house, making the property a significant part of Glover’s history.
Nile Farm has an historic charm, while renovations have brought the house into the 21st century, making it a beautiful and comfortable retreat. There are views of the landscape featured in My Harvest Home, with a tractor unintentionally placed where the hay carts once were.
